Chameleons

When we're trying to please everyone, be what everyone wants us to be, fit into expectations or perfection ---

--- we're spending all our time trying to blend in with everything around us, rather than Being who we actually are.

Chameleons sometimes get so good at this we forget who we are.
What makes us, us.

This was absolutely me for most of my life, until a few years ago, and I used to think it was a positive trait:

Look how well I can get along with so many different groups, so many types of people!

And that's beautiful in some ways.

But look at why chameleons (or any animal that camouflages) do this --- why have they mastered the art of changing their skin, feathers or fur to match their surroundings?

TO HIDE.
