Symbolically ‘shaving my head’…
In Shamanic Journey today, the goddess Hathor showed me “shaving my head” — an invitation to allow myself to be stripped of my previous identity, in service of Becoming who I’ve always been meant to be...
And I agreed (symbolically).
And was shown something, again, that a Shaman showed me in dreamspace a couple weeks ago — confirming that I’m stepping more powerfully into the Medicine I’m here to bring through.
But, later, I was wondering why
I’d felt so melancholy all night...
And then I read a beautiful post about throwing our ‘assumed identities’ into the fire, and allowing ourselves to grieve who we’ve let ourselves pretend to be — and it occurred to me:
I’m grieving.
Grieving as I release more and more of who I’ve never (truly) been — to unearth the I Am who has always been waiting... I’ve held on tight to the parts of me that have blended and behaved, the parts that have played along and piped down, the parts that have gone along with and given good face.
And it’s totally normal to mourn the parts of us we’ve played before, the lives we’ve lived before, the things we held to — even when not in our service — because they’re the best we knew.
We’re even often asked to release the old selves we loved, back when it was simpler, when we hadn’t yet begun to Know.
Upleveling can be giddy and exciting, celebratory and joyful — and it can be rending, dark, heavy, mournful. In fact, it’s typically always both:
Because as much as we expand more into our Light,
we must also expand to encompass its twin, Shadow.
