What is a Goddess?
You hear me use the word "Goddess" a lot.
Sometimes I even call myself a Goddess Coach. :)
I talk about how I tap into my Goddessness, and help other women feel Goddessy.
I gather around me what one of my clients lovingly referred to as my "Goddess Army" -- the women (like you!) who are part of my Tribe; who are part of this movement I'm creating; who are drawn to the work I'm doing and who want me to be a Catalyst for their Love.
I have my Goddess Vibe Tribe group on Facebook.
I pull Goddess oracle cards often -- including for my Float circle, weekly.
I teach my clients to call on their Goddessness by teaching them the tools, philosophies, mindsets and ways of being in my private coaching.
But what do I actually mean by Goddess?
In essence, it is the Feminine energy that I teach my clients to harness and unleash.
And, different from some of the incredibly outdated notions and connotations that come with the term "feminine" --- weakness, submission, the "in the kitchen in an apron" kind of feminine.
Fuck that. That's not at all what I'm about.
I'm about the power of the feminine; her ability to encompass ALL.
And her capability to feel, to receive, to open and to flow.
As you'll find if you study any of the Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Indian, Nordic or other mythological Goddesses -- the traits of a Goddess are varied and many.
For example, the Hindu Goddess Kali is fierce, she's a demon-slayer, she is destruction of what was.
Mary is a creator Goddess, a bringer of life from the very center of her being; she is source and she is compassion.
Ix Chel is independent, allowing no one to own her, is comfortable with all parts of life, and gives fertility and healing.
Hathor brings love, beauty and sensual pleasure.
Ishtar brings life, light and plenty;
Athena brings wisdom and courage, and is the embodiment of the feminine warrior;
and Kuan Yin, brings mercy, compassion, blessings and protection --- especially for women.
But you don't have to know anything about the mythic women who lend their archetypes to our modern-day expression.
Look inside --- reach deep down into your belly, drop down into your pelvis, then ask, what do you think of when you think of a Goddess?
Here’s what I think of:
Greatness
She strives for greatness in herself, in her life, in her Love. She searches for and opens to new ideas and seeks to release old patterns. She strives for her own betterment, constantly. She strives to uplift those around her, as well.
She would never play small (Goddesses are BIGNESS).
Beauty
She feels radiant. She feels more in love with her body than ever before. When the assumed, expected and "established" standards of beauty don't align with her own, she works to love her own body and own beauty even more. She CHOOSES to love her own brand of beauty. And that makes her beautiful.
Sensuality
She feels her body. She feels the air on her body. She's intimately acquainted with how things FEEL in her body. And she loves feeling into it.
Sexuality
She feels the touch of passion, and her own touch, as part of her very essence -- she feels no shame, no fear in exploring her own flavor of sexuality (this isn't about anyone else's definition). More than just her interest in sex, this is her relationship with her body, and her familiarity with what her body wants.
Strength
She has access, at all times, to her source of innate power. This doesn't mean she's tough, rough, or unfeeling. It doesn't mean she doesn't get hurt, or she doesn't fall. She does. It's that she knows, above all, that she will always be okay because she has access to herself.
Softness
She is beautifully soft. Why wouldn't she be?
Yes, you can be strong and soft at the same time. It's the core and the power of the feminine. She doesn't need to prove her strength. She doesn't need to show her strength in masculine terms. Hers is the kind of strength wielded by an ocean wave --- it has depth, it has power, it has caress, it has beauty, it has anger, it has lightness, it has movement, and it has softness and give.
Ease
A Goddess needs no struggle. At every moment, she is open to possibility, to what is, to the infinite wisdom of the Universe, and to her own power. Flow is her most natural, and most delicious, state.
Wisdom
She seeks to better herself, her knowledge, her awareness, and her gifts. She seeks to share her wisdom with others, to help them grow their own.
She is especially wise in that she knows herself, and loves to explore her inner world to illuminate the nooks and crannies she doesn't know yet.
Openness
She shares herself. She doesn't need to ask permission (including from herself) to be authentically herself.
She shares her feelings. She shares her love, her joy, and her vulnerability -- even her pain.
Communicating like a Goddess just means anchoring, feeling, expressing.
Power
She has the kind of power that means she doesn't need to prove it. She's capable, and it's ultimately only important that she knows it.
She doesn't need anyone else, and yet she feels joy in relationship and community.
She can take care of herself, and yet she never settles for having her needs unmet.
She knows that true power means being open and receiving, and that true power comes in the not closing down or pushing away.
